West Bromwich Albion to conduct training camps in Delhi

English Premier League(EPL) side West Brom Albion  will organize a talent hunt
to select kids for getting trained by their coaches in Delhi

In an attempt to infuse fresh blood into the sleeping football giant, English Premier League club West Bromwich Albion are headed to India as a part of their West Bromwich Albion Foundation program in association with Youth Football International (YFI) to scout, train and develop talent across the country.
In a bid to give direction to their project, the English Premier League club would move around, starting off with Delhi as the first chapter of a long to-be-written book, where they conduct a talent hunt on Saturday, January 18 at the Ambedkar Stadium in Delhi, followed by training and monitoring of the selected lot at the American Embassy School tiger turf during their week’s visit here from January 19-January 25, 2014. The selected kids would not only be an integral part of the club’s consistent monitoring program, but will be entitled for benefits ranging from scholarship in the YFI-West Bromwich Albion Academy, along with other club merchandise.

The West Bromwich Albion invasion to India is focusing on the long-term development. A testimony to the statement lies in the fact that the club is not coming up with a franchise and their activities are non-money centric, making it accessible, dream-able and feasible even for the money-stringent talents to come up the ranks and stand out.

With an eye on now confirmed India’s participation at the 2017 U-17 World Cup and to extend their helping hand in nurturing the current breed, the club is restricting itself to talented 12-14 year olds for their initial week-long program in Delhi.

The trial runs from 09:00 hours to 17:00 hours and is open for all falling in the aforementioned ambit. The club will also visit a few Schools, NGOs and slums to give the underprivileged and the less fortunate a European experience and pick a few boys that could hold the future of the country’s football scene.
Hailing from Birmingham, where there is a presence of huge Indian community, West Bromwich Albion has been a regular feature of the World’s most famous league in English Premier League. The club that finished a respectable 8thlast season has to its credit, a win against defending champions Manchester United this season, and are making constant progress.
