Minerva Academy FC defeated Neroca FC in their penultimate game of the Hero I-League 2015-16 Final Round to stay in race for promotion. The game was an entertaining one finishing 3-2 in Minerva Academy's favor. Simranjeet scored twice while Kreem chipped in with a late goal that gave the home side a very vital victory going into the final game of the league. Minerva lead 2-0 going into the break thanks to a fine brace from Simranjeet Singh. Neroca however equalized in the 63rd minute through Price after Durga Boro was brought down in the penalty box. Earlier in the second half, Neroca scored their first goal through Chingkhei's brilliant effort. The home side however had the final laugh with a late penalty being awarded in their favour. Minerva Academy's skipper Kareem stepped up and converted to send the crowd into ruptures.

Minerva Academy next face Dempo SC in the "promotion-decider" as Minerva Academy FC would need nothing less than a win to earn promotion to the I-League while any other result would send Dempo SC back to the I-League.
