Sporting defeated Mumbai FC 1-0 at The Cooperage in the first leg of their Hero Federation Cup 2016 encounter. Sumeet Passi scoring the only goal in the 90th minute through a header with substitute Victorino Fernandes providing the assist. Sporting will host Mumbai FC on 4th May with an away goal in hand.

Trevor Morgan could not manage to get his first victory on his return as the Red and Golds were handed a 2-1 defeat by Shillong Lajong FC at the JN Stadium in the Hero Federation Cup 2016 tie. Chinglensana Singh(32nd) and Fabio Pena(62nd) scored for Lajong while Do Dong Hyun scored the only goal for East Bengal. The second leg will be played on 4th May at the Barasat Stadium.
