Mohun Bagan continued their hot streak in the continental championship, AFC Cup 2016 with a 4-0 thrashing of Hong Kong's South China in the Group G tie played on Wednesday, 9th March 2016 at the Mongkok Stadium, Hong Kong. Lenny Rodrigues opened the floodgates with a pocher effort when he capitalized on a loose save from the South China custodian that fell right in front of the goal. South China's problems doubled up as they were reduced to ten men after their defender Che Runqiu received marching order in the 16th minute following two yellow cards in the span of three minutes. Sony Norde and Cornell Glen scored one a piece to make it a 3-0 scoreline in the first half. Jeje lalpekhlua scored the fourth and final goal of the match in the 83rd minute through a thumping header. The scoreline could have been much worse had Mohun Bagan strikers took their chances. Mohun Bagan lead the charts in Group G with 6 points in 2 matches followed by Yangon United who are on 4 points. Maziya Sports & Recreation complete the top three with a point after a 1-1 draw against Yangon United. South China are yet to open their account and are lying bottom of the table.

Bengaluru FC continue to struggle in the AFC Cup after yet another defeat. Malaysia's Johor Darul Tazim got the better of The Blues with a slender 1-0 victory. JDT's skipper Safiq Bin Rahim scored the winner in the 55th minute which keeps them at the top of the Group H standings. Ashley Westwood's side are yet to get any points in the AFC Cup 2016 after they were beaten by Laos side Lao Toyota FC away from home.
