India U-23 National Team progressed to the semi-finals of South Asian Games played in Guwahati on Wednesday, 10th February 2016. The Men in Blue defeated Maldives in a 5-goal thriller split 3-2 in India's favor.
India took the lead in the 4th minute of the game through Udanta Singh which was neutralized by Maldives just five minutes later when they scored the equalizer. Pritam Kotal restored India's lead just two minutes later in the 11th minute through a thumping header. India had quite a few chances but couldnot extend their lead. Just minute before half-time Maldives yet again found the back of the net, as the two teams went for the lemon break tied at 2-2. Udanta Singh once again registered his name in the score sheet when he scored in the 59th minute to give India a 3-2 lead to which Maldives had no response.
