Aizawl FC left it late into stoppage time to hand Minerva Punjab FC their first defeat of the Hero I-League. Former Sporting Goa's Syrian midfielder Al Amenah, who replaced Lalbiakthanga in the lineup was the star man on the field dominating the midfield battle for Khalid Jamil's men. He was the one who ultimately found the winner through a corner kick which was headed into the Minerva's net by their own player, Joel Loveday to give Aizawl FC all three points.

Back in Kolkata, Mohun Bagan were finally playing in their home ground at Rabindra Sarobar Stadium and they came out on top courtesy of a fine brace from their new signing Darryl Duffy. Shillong Lajong FC's struggle on the road continued with a 2-0 defeat against the 2014-15 champions. Lajong coach Thangboi Singto fielded as many as six U-22 player in their squad with Romanian defender Dan Gelu Ignat leading the pack. For Mohun Bagan Raynier Fernandes made his I-League debut. Kinshuk Debnath was provider for the first goal as Duffy expertly finished the move past Shillong Lajong custodian Vishal Kaith. Lajong looked a much better side into the second half but the second goal killed the game with Duffy completing his brace as Lajong defence went into sleep yet again. Mohun Bagan are now at the top of the table with two wins out of two.
