East Bengal registered their first three points of the Hero I-League 2016-17 with a 2-1 victory over DSK Shivajians at Balewadi Sports Complex, Pune. The Red and Gold's new recruit Willis Plaza again put in a fine show to guide his side to a victory.

Bengaluru FC continued their hot-streak in the Hero I-League with a 2-0 victory in the "South Derby" against debutants Chennai City FC. Their new foreign signing Roby Norales broke the deadlock after Bengaluru FC's relentless pressure was soaked by the visiting Chennai side. Vineeth CK put the game out of doubt with a neat first time effort from a Udanta Singh's cross.
