It was the first victory of Khalid Jamil's side as goals from Japanese Taisuke Matsugae and Sushil Kumar Singh proved just enough to get all the three points against a strong Salgaocar FC side. Taisuke Matsugae scored the first goal with a peach of an effort while he turned provider for the second to Sushil Kumar Singh. The best player of last edition of Hero i-League, Jakichand gave Malky Thomson's side a hope with a weird goal, beating goalkeeper Pawan Kumar from a loopy ball, but the scoreline remained 2-1 to Mumbai FC's favour.
Bengaluru FC's march towards the title challenge continued as the Blues hosted Shillong Lajong FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium. New signing from Royal Wahingdoh FC, Seong Yong Kim was involved in all three of the goals the Bengaluru outfit scored. First the North Korean set up Vineeth in the very first minute before scoring a brace himself on either side of halftime to put Bengaluru FC on top of the table after round 3.
