Cesar Farias appointed as Head Coach of NorthEast United FC for Second Edition of Hero Indian Super League(ISL) |
Farias became the Venezuelan Senior National Team Head coach after Richard Páez's departure in 2007. He guided Venezuela to the semi-finals of Copa America 2011 for the very first time. Apart from managing Venezuelan clubs like Deportivo Anzoátegui, Mineros de Guayana, Deportivo Táchira, Cesar Farias was also the coach of Venezuela U-20 National Team which qualified for FIFA U-20 World Cup.
The enthusiasm shown by the people in India was praised by the Venezuelan coach as he stated,"I experienced the passion that Indians possess for football first hand." The 42 year old gaffer went on to add,"I have a clear goal in mind: The development of NorthEast Untied FC and also of Indian football."
JOhn Abraham, voiced his delight on the appointment of the new coach, "I am thrilled. It's all about winning this season and I'm confident that Cesar's leadership will get us there. He is a unifier and that is important when we have a squad that comes from different cultures and geographic regions. Most importantly, he is young, passionate, has a clear vision for the club."
NorthEast United has already roped in the services of former Portugal International Simao Sabrosa.
