India U-16 team book their berth for the main event of 2012 AFC U16 Championship in style by beating Tajikistan by 4-1.India started their qualifying campaign on a flying note thrashing Kyrgyzstan by 7-0 margin.If the match against Kyrgyzstan was about dominance,the second match was about attitude of self belief and courage shown by them coming back from a goal deficit to win the match against bahrain by 2-1.With India needing a win to book their place in main event, they were to face the biggest rival from their group, Uzbekistan. Though India was not expected to win in the match all were expecting a good fighting effort from India,but to shocker for many uzbekistan hammered 9-0 aginst India to completely break the morale of team India. With this loss, the chance of making through as best 3rd finisher too looked bleak which meant it was more like a must win match for team India.
The Indian team went on with an attacking mindset to bring home a victory and book their slot for the main draw. However, Tajikistan managed to take an early lead in the 16th minute when Komron Tursunov converted from the spot.
This early goal woken up the team and India team made a series of attack,to their cheer Lalramzuava blasted the ball past the goal from an wonderfully executed direct free-kick. India was able to double their tally just before the half time,with goal from uttam rai, which meant India would be going to dressing room with a goal advantage after the half time.
The second half had been all Indian story as India was able to beat odds to make their entry into main event as sarthak golui and Daniel were able to find the back of net , making the scoreline 4-1 in favour of India and booking their place in 2012 AFC U16 championship.
