AFC Challenge Cup 2012 Qualifiers: India face Chinese Tipei today

A fresh enthusiastic Indian team will face Chinese Taipei in their first encounter in AFC Challenge Cup 2012 Qualifiers. The team is filled of many new faces barring the likes of a few which includes Sunil Chhetri, Gourmangi Singh, Steven Dias and Subrata Paul. The Indian team last faced the Chinese Taipei team in two legged friendly in 2008 when they(India) beat them 3-0 and drew on one occasion 2-2. The Chinese Taipei team did extremely well to beat the Laos team in preliminary stages 6-3 on aggregate.

The team looks like this:

Goalkeepers: Subrata Paul (Pune FC), Arindam Bhattacharya (Churchill Brothers) and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu (Indian Arrows).

Defenders: Denzil Franco and Gourmangi Singh (Both Churchill), Nirmal Chetri and Syed Rahim Nabi (both East Bengal), NS Manju (United Sikkim), Raju Gaekwad (Indian Arrows), Govin Singh (Salgaocar), Anwar and Mohan Raj (both Mohun Bagan).

Midfielders: Rakesh Masih (Mohun Bagan), Joaquim Abranches (Dempo), Baldip Singh (Salgaocar), Steven Dias (Churchill), Jagpreet Singh (JCT), Jewel Raja and Shilton D’Silva (both Indian Arrows).

Forwards: Sushil Singh (East Bengal), Sunil Chhetri (Chirag United), C.S. Sabeeth (Viva Kerala) and Jeje Lalpekhulua (Indian Arrows).

Chief coach: Bob Houghton; Assistant coach: Savio Medeira; Goalkeeping coach: Marcos Pacheco; Manager: Mandhar Tamhane

Sunil Chhetri, The Captain

The Indian team will be lead by prolific striker Sunil Chhetri.The starting eleven might include the likes of Jeje (accompanying Chhetri) and Raju Gaekwad.
