Dempo loose despite giving up a strong fight

Dempo put up spirited fight against their Qatari counterpart before loosing 0-2 to them. The first goal came from Al-Sadd's Ivory Coast International Kader Keita's header on 33rd minute. Dempo relied mostly on counters. Ranti martins had the best chance but he failed to convert. While Al Sadd were dominating the first half, second half saw much more possession for the team from Goa. Their goalkeeper Subhashish Roy Chowdhry was performing spectacularly along with Mahesh Gawli at the defence which made it hard for the red hot favorites to score. Dempo brought in Joaquim Abhranches in a bid to score the equalizer but the last minute of regulation time saw Al-Sadd's Brazilian midfielder Leandro score to make it 2-0 for the hosts.

Dempo will now play in the AFC Cup where they are grouped alongside Al Ansar (Lebanon), Nasaf (Uzbekistan) and Al Tilal (Yemen) .
