East Bengal crashed out of the Hero Federation Cup 2016 after losing to Shillong Lajong FC on aggregate(3-4) after a 2-2 draw at the Barasat Stadium on Wednesday, 4th May 2016. Uilliams Souza scored the decisive goal in the 114th minute of the tie after both teams were tied 2-2 on aggregate with the scoreline reading 2-1 in East Bengal's favor. Shillong Lajong had a advantage of one goal going into the second leg with a 2-1 scoreline in their favor.

Sporting Goa put in a fine effort in their home as they edged Mumbai FC yet again with a 1-0 win at home thus winning the two legged affair 2-0 on aggregate. Subhashish Bose scored the only goal of the game in the 46th minute, converting from the spot.

Sporting Goa will face Aizawl FC in the first semi final clash while Shillong Lajong will wait for the winners of the tie between Mohun Bagan and Salgaocar FC.
