Mohun Bagan crushed Bengaluru FC 5-0 in their final league encounter of the Hero I-League played at Siliguri on Saturday, 23rd April 2016. Mohun Bagan started the game in a blistering pace against a Bengaluru side who went into the game with some key names missing from the starting XI. It took the Mariners 8 minutes to open the scoring as Cornell Glen found the back of the net getting onto the end of Sony Norde's cross. Within a span of 20 minutes, Mohun Bagan pumped three more goals with Lenny Rodrigues, Luciano Sarbosa and Azharuddin Mullick all getting a goal each. Cornell Glen added more misery to the clueless Bengaluru FC defense in the 66th minute who were down to 10 men with Keegan Pereira receiving his second booking in the 51st minute. It was perhaps not the best way to end the campaign for the already crowned Hero I-League 2015-16 champions as Mariners had the last laugh with a 5-0 thrashing of the Blues. Bengaluru FC thus ended their campaign with 32 points while Mohun Bagan secured the second place with 30 points.
