Bengaluru FC notched up their first win in the AFC Cup 2016, defeating visiting Malaysian side Ayeyawadi United FC 1-0 in the Group H clash played at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru. Sunil Chhetri scored the only goal of the match in the 34th minute to give the Blues their first points in the continental competition which now sees them placed at joint 3rd position alongside Lao Toyota FC but with better goal difference.

Mohun Bagan continued their hot streak yet again as they defeated Yangdong United FC of Myanmar in the Group G tie played at the Indira Gandhi International Stadium, Guwahati on Wednesday, 16th March 2016. Sony Norde and Jeje Lalpekhlua gave Sanjoy Sen's men a flying start before Marcelo Fernandes' brace made the scores even. Jeje Lalpekhlua scored the winner, just two minutes after Yangdong United FC equalized to give Mariners their third victory in three matches.
