FC Goa's Jofre visits Anantapur Sports Academy(ASA) to conduct trials

The Anantapur Sports Academy (ASA) has played an instrumental role towards grassroots with their youth products from Anantapur performing impressively for Fateh Hyderabad FC in U-15 and U-18 i-League. The development and performances of the youngsters positively reflects the Rural Development Trust’s (RDT) objective of inculcating a sporting culture among Anantapur’s young generation.

Jofre Mateu Gonzalez, a highly popular household name and one of the most successful foreign players in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL), part of the inaugural season winning Atletico de Kolkata (2014) and Season Two Runners Up, FC Goa (2015), has joined hands with ASA to reach out to more children as they felt the need to nurture younger talent to reach ASA’s objective.

The Spanish Midfielder will oversee the U11, U13 and U15 selections based on a comprehensive six day football camp conducted by Jofre himself, assisted by ASA Football Head Coach Miquel Llado, between the 26th February 2016 and 2nd March 2016.

As many as 235 young boys from over 22 grassroot mandals, shortlisted through ASA’s intensive and highly detailed talent ID program, will be hosted at the RDT’s Anantapur Sports Village (ASV) over the six days.

The boys will be split into nine groups, with 60 U11 boys in two groups of 30 each, 75 U13 boys in three groups of 25 each and another 100 U15 boys in four groups of 25 each will be assigned one coach per group during the camp. Each group will go through nine training sessions and One Master Session with Jofre and ASA Head Coach Miquel Llado.

In addition to this, Jofre will conduct a Strategy and Video Analysis session and a leadership session through his company, Aktua Liderazgo, that works to promote leadership skills in youngsters, particularly sportspersons, for the ASA Coaches and Football academy boys.

Talking about the selections, ASA Football Head Coach Miquel Llado explained “It is great to have Jofre amongst us, helping us to select our latest crop of footballing geniuses. We have seen a vibrant buzz among the boys from the time they discovered that Jofre will be conducting his camp during the time of our selection trials for next year’s season, and this enthusiasm only assures us of the good times ahead.”
