Mohun Bagan sign Brandon Fernandes on loan

Mohun Bagan have signed promising young midfielder Brandon Fernandes on loan from Mumbai City FC. The former Salgaocar youth product, came to the limelight when he was signed by South African academy, ASD Cape Town at a very young age. His technical ability attracted interest from several clubs in England and the young midfielder went for Leicester City trials.


He came back to India when he signed for Sporting Clube de Goa and helped them avoid relegation after a torrid start. Brandon scored 3 goals for the "Flaming Orange" in 9 appearances. He was signed by Mumbai City FC for the second edition of Hero Indian Super League but his injuries kept him out for most part of the season.


The 21 year old attack minded midfielder who can play in the wings as well as in the centre is understood to have had offers from several other i-League clubs but decided to join the Mariners. The chance of playing in the continental championship (AFC Cup or Asian Champions League) was probably one of the prime factors.
