Atletico de Kolkata 2-1 (2-4 Agg.) Chennaiyin FC
ATK: Dejan Lekic(22nd), Iain Hume(87th)
CFC: Fikru(90th)
Chennaiyin FC got the better of defending champions, Atletico de Kolkata after the end of two legged semi-finals of the Hero Indian Super League 2015. Atletico de Kolkata came to the match with a huge task ahead of them, having to overturn a three goal deficit after they were on the wrong side of a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Chennaiyin FC in the first leg played in Pune.
Atletico de Kolkata started the game well and went ahead in the 22nd minute through Dejan Lekic when he capitalized on a chaotic miscommunication at the Chennayin defense, between Bernard Mendy and Edel Apoula to slot the ball home. After that the game saw some close half chances with Steven Mendoza testing Amrinder from long range on couple of occasions while Atletico de Kolkata also testing their former goalkeeper on a couple of occasions to reduce the deficit. Iain Hume light up the crowd when he and Dejan Lekic combined beautifully before the former hit a superb volley to score the second goal of Atletico de Kolkata and set the match to an interesting finish. Former Atletico de Kolkata striker Fikru however silenced the home crowd as he scored in the 90th minute after he pounced onto a poorly manufactured throw-in between Amrinder and Mohanraj.
Chennaiyin FC will thus face FC Goa in the final of Hero Indian Super League(ISL) 2015 in Goa on 20th December 2015.
