Liverpool FC's legend Jamie Carragher inaugurated the state of the art Liverpool FC-DSK Shivajians international football academy in Loni, Pune on Tuesday. Two artificial full sized turfs - a 4G Synthetic turf and a Natural grass turf, an outdoor swimming pool, 840 air conditioned rooms, state-of-the-art gymnasium were only the few of many highlights of the first of its kind International academy spread over 20 acres of area located at the outskirts of Pune at the DSK International Campus, Loni was simply unreal to watch.

64 players across the country were shortlisted to be the part of the history, forming the initial batches for the U-17 and U-19 categories of the academy, out of 2500 participants after going through rigorous selection phases under the watchful eyes of Liverpool FC's coaches Ray Curtis and Michael Rice.
Out of the 64 shortlisted youngsters, some of them have been given scholarships based on their economic health whereas others have paid close to 4 and half lakhs for an year. These players would get the opportunity to get trained by Liverpool FC coaches and specialist to improve every possible aspect of their game on and off the field.

Both Ray Curtis and Jamie Carragher, were impressed with the commitment of the shortlisted boys. Ray Curtis said that the players have every right to believe that they can become one of the best, with probably some of them could possibly end up playing somewhere in Europe.
The Academy is now officially open and will commence its training programmes this month.
