India to start against Syria in Nehru Cup 2012


India will play against Syria in their opening game of Nehru Cup 2012. Beside India, the other four teams will be Cameroon, Nepal, Maldives and Syria. Each team will play each other once in the group stage and the winners and runners up will qualify for the finals. India will look to make a hat-trick of Nehru Cup victories with Syria being on the receiving end on both occasions previously. While Kenya confirmed their participation but they withdrew from the tournament in the final moment as they preferred to play friendly match against Jamaica.

The tournament will kick off from 22nd August while the final is slated to take place on 2nd September,2012. It will the first assignment of dutch coach Wim Koevermans in charge of the national team.
