Arthur Papas's boys seems destined to make a mark in the ongoing AFC U-22 Championship qualifiers after they thrashed Turkmenistan U-22 team 4-1 in todays match. This further boosts the chance of India making a place in the main phase of the tournament. Indian team drew first blood when Lalrindika converted from the spot in the 36th minute after a penalty was awarded when Romeo Fernandes was brought down in the box by rival Turkmenistan defender Komekov Hemeyat. After the first half Turkmenistan team made several attempts to equalized which was finally rewarded to them when Italmazov Farhad equalized in the 59th minute. Indian boys then showed their fighting mindset which was a charm to watch in their previous games against UAE and Iraq. First, it was Alwyn George who
gave India the lead in the 69th minute, then,Romeo Fernandes doubled the lead in 76th minute and finally, Jeje Lalpekhlua sealed the victory after converting another penalty in the 86th minute. India next face Oman in their final encounter on 3rd July, 2012.
