PFC spreads happiness with 'Habitat'

As a welfare initiative, PFC players and staff collaborated with Habitat for Humanity, an organization committed to build simple, decent and affordable houses for those who lack adequate shelter. Since 1983, Habital for Humanity have constructed over 33,000 houses, providing shelter to around 165,000 less fortunate citizens of the country.
The Pune FC senior team and staff visited a small village called TEPACHIWADI near Karjat, and spent the day painting and plastering houses for the underprivileged. The entire group was divided into five teams, who altogether painted four houses and plastered a fifth. The teams were led by Narshiman Balaji, Venkatesh Shanmugam, Sandesh Ghatgari, Atul Pande (PFC Accounts) and Amit Dharap (PFC Administration).

In what proved to be a day of intense manual labour, PFC team and Staff worked alongside families, masons and unskilled workmen, without the benefit of any machinery or power-tools. The atmosphere was charged with a sense of purpose and a drive to give their best for the needy, while at the same time drawing out the best in each other as a team. Everyone took up the challenge and worked tirelessly towards completing the task. Pune FC Head Operations Mr. Chirag Tanna worked with Team 4 and was seen painting the house till late afternoon. "It feels great to come out of office and work", he said. Coach Derrick Perira was seen with team 5 working towards plastering one of the houses. All the players enjoyed their outing and it was good to see them competing in the end as whose house was better.

Presently, all the team leaders shared their delight to have been able to work towards such a noble cause. The event was the first of its kind, and everybody was thrilled about the results. The admiration for their work was evident from smiles of the villagers.

"We will keep associating with such causes in future" said Mr. Chirag Tanna.
