East Bengal defeated Mohun Bagan 6-5 after penalties decided a thrilling encounter between the two Kolkata giants. Alvito scored the first goal for East Bengal on 45th minute whereas Satish Kumar equalized for Mohun Bagan 7 minutes after the break. Robin Singh scored the equalizer on 76th minute. The scored were tied 2-2 after normal time which meant the match got to extra time.
The match headed for extra time where East Bengal got the all important lead on 98th minute and looked set for victory until Harpreet scored on 114th minute which created a late drama. The scoreline remained 3-3 after extra time and that's when East Bengal clinched the match and the Mohammedan's Platinum Jubilee Cup.
The two teams will meet again on 26th November in a CFL tie.
