Mohun Bagan beat Colombo FC 4-2 on aggregate in the AFC Cup 2017 South Zone Preliminary stage

Mohun Bagan defeated Sri Lankan side Colombo FC 2-1 (4-2 on aggregate) in the South Zone preliminary stage match for the Asian Football Confederation(AFC) Cup 2017 played on Tuesday, 7th February 2017 at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium, Kolkata. Goals from Sony Norde(28th) and Darryl Duffy(56th) sealed the fate for the Mariners while a sublime solo effort from Momas Yapo only proved to be a consolation goal.

Mohun Bagan took the lead through Sony Norde when Colombo FC custodian Mohamed Imran failed to save the Haitian International's effort from outside of the box. Sony Norde was again involved in the second goal, when he squared the ball for Darryl Duffy who just required to apply a simple tap-in finish. Colombo FC scored a consolation goal late into the second half through Ivorian Momas Yao, who dribbled past several Bagan defenders before striking a low grasping shot into the net.

The match ended 2-1 in favour of Mohun Bagan, just like the first leg as the Mariners advanced to the South Zone play-offs where they will face Club Valencia.
