Mumbai City FC put a halt on NorthEast United's perfect start to the Hero Indian Super League(ISL) 2016 campaign as they defeated the Highlanders 1-0 at the Mumbai Football Arena on Friday.

In a thrilling encounter the only goal of the game came from Mumbai City FC's marquee signing Diego Forlan. Reagan Singh stuck his leg out to foul Pronay Halder inside the box as the referee pointed to the spot. The Uruguyan hitman made no mistake in converting the penalty as Subrata Paul failed to palm the ball away from his net despite getting a touch on Forlan's spot kick. The game did not lack attacking intent as both sides put in a good shift but the scoreline remained unaltered.

NorthEast United FC remain in the top of the table with 6 points from 3 games while Mumbai, having played a game less, are right behind them level on points but scoring a goal less.
