Bengaluru FC placed their name in the history book of Indian Football after becoming the first Indian club to qualify for the final of AFC cup. Bengaluru FC at their fortress defeated Johor Darul Ta'zim 3-1(4-2 on aggregate) in the second leg of the AFC Cup 2016 semi-final with their skipper being the star man upfront leading by example. Eugeneson Lyngdoh's who provided Bengaluru FC the crucial away goal, was also heavily involved in the goals this time as he was the architect for two of the three scored by The Blues.
Skipper Sunil Chhetri lead from the front with a superb brace, the first one came from a fine header to provide Bengaluru FC the equalizer while the second was a moment of brilliance. About 25 yards from the goal, Chhetri picked up the ball and glided past few challenges before hitting a bullet on the turn which sailed to the top right corner. Spaniard Juan Antonio scored the third in the 76th minute to book Bengaluru FC's place in the AFC Cup 2016 final where they will face Al Quwa Al Jawiya of Iraq on 5th November 2016.
What Bengaluru FC has done is to show the path to other football clubs in India what a professional setup can do. A team formed not more than 3 years and couple of months, have won two I-League titles, finished runners-up once, won the Federation Cup once and claimed this new feat of being the first Indian club to qualify for AFC Cup final. They have set an example that with proper resources, when utilized to perfection, a team will see the the light of success.
Well done Bengaluru FC. We wish you the very best for the ultimate grand finale of the AFC Cup 2016.
