French defender Bernard Mendy is set to join Kolkata outfit East Bengal. It is understood that the club and Bernard Mendy have reached an agreement and the defender will join the Red and Golds squad soon to strengthen their defense. The former French International will be one of the most high profile signing ever made by an i-League club. The 34 year old defender came into the limelight of Indian Football due to his consistent performances for Indian Super League side Chennaiyin FC.
Bernard Mendy has had an illustrious career with his 8 year spell with Paris Saint Germain(2000-2008) being the highlight. He made his National Team debut for France against Brazil, which was followed by three more caps. Mendy also played in the English Premier League for Hull City for two full seasons(2008-09, 2009-10).
