U-18 Girls National Football Championship to be held in Goa
The Junior National Football Girls Championship for Girls Under 18 will be organized by the Goa Football Association in association with the All India Football Federation in Goa.

This is the first National Tournament for Girls/Women organized in Goa since the year 2003.

Mr. Elvis Gomes, President, Goa Football Association, in a press conference, said “The matches will be held at two venues: Village Panchayat Ground, Raia and the Rosary Sports Ground, Navelim. There will be a total of 25 teams, vying for the title. All the teams have been divided into 8 groups, and the eight winners of each group will then be pitted against each other in two groups of 4 each. The top two teams in each group will qualify to the semifinals. The finals will be held on October 21, 2015.”

The tournament is supported by Goa Dairy who have agreed to support the budding girls with goodies and refreshments. 25 state teams have confirmed their participation, with 500 .

Ms. Juliana Gurjao e Colaco, who has taken charge of the overall organization of the tournament of Head of the GFA Women’s Football Committee, said, “The Goa team is coached by Mr. Shekhar Kerkar, AFC B License Coach, and Ms. Dakshata Shirodkar is the Manager. Ms. Astrid Pereira, D License Coach, will be the Assistant Coach. The team was selected from the best players who played in the GFA U18 Girls Tournament and from the open selection trials conducted after the tournament. The 33 probables selected, went through a residential camp and then further a 10 day closed camp was held in Margao.”

The Finals will be held on 21st October 2015 at 8.00.am. at the Rosary Grounds, Navelim.

Appropriate Reception Counters with Banners will be set up at the Railway Station of Margao and Kadamba Bus Stand Margao in order to receive the teams and officials. Adequate buses have been requisitioned for transporting the players/officials/teams from the Railway/bus station to venues of accommodation/competition.
