Salgaocar FC sign Australian Striker Calvin Mbarga on year long loan deal
Salgaocar FC have reinforced their striking department with the signing of 28 year old Australian Calvin Mbarga on a year-long deal. The Cameroon U20 International Calvin has spent the last 5 years in Australia having to his credit over 100 league goals.

Calvin began his playing career at Unisport Bafang in Cameroon followed by a 2-year stint in the United Arab Emirates where he donned the colours of Baniyas SC and Al-Jazira. In 2010, Calvin moved to Australia and has played for some of the leading clubs in the South Australian Super Leagues and the National Premier Leagues Victoria, including Western Strikers, Adelaide Blue Eagles and Hume City. He last played for Northcote City before signing for the Greens.

“Firstly, I am delighted to be in India, a country I have heard so much about. I am grateful to the management of Salgaocar FC for this opportunity. I have heard a lot about the I-League and I am looking forward to giving it my best and hopefully bringing honours to the club. I am excited and raring to go”, the player was quoted after signing on the dotted line.

In the on-going Goa Professional League, the Greens have failed to find the back of the net as often as they’d like to after having loaned out Darryl Duffy to FC Goa. And whilst the youngsters have been given a great platform in the absence of the 8 players currently with various ISL franchises, coach Malcolm Thomson will know that he now has a true goal-poacher at his disposal.

“We have been monitoring Calvin closely over the past year and believe he will be a good addition to the squad. Besides, having acquired his Australian citizenship, he fills the Asian quota for us”, commented club General Secretary, Adlear D’Cruz.

Calvin will sport the No. 9 jersey for the Greens.
