Team India will face a tricky away fixture when they face Turkmenistan away from home in the Russia 2018 World Cup Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 2 match on Thursday, 8th October 2015.

Ranked at 155 in the FIFA World Rankings ladder, Turkmenistan have already created headlines having held the Asian giants Iran at home. The two teams have faced each other five times with both teams winning 2 games each while they have played out a single draw.

Team India are sitting rock-bottom in Group D having yet to register a single point whereas Turkmenistan have a single point and are just above the Blue Tigers. Iran, Oman and Guam all have 7 points with the latter having played a game more.

Indian gaffer, Stephen Constanine pointed out that India should be  wary of Turkmenistan threat, "We are aware of the difficult task. Turkmenistan had a fantastic result against Iran. It speaks about the ability and determination of the team. Iran are a super power in Asia and we always respect a Team which managed to get a point from them. So we expect a very difficult game. The past may be hinting at something different but Turkmenistan are a much improved side in the last few years."

The Indian squad for the World cup qualifier tie:

Goalkeepers: Subrata Paul, Karanjit Singh, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu.
Defenders: Arnab Mondal, Sandesh Jhingan, Aiborlang Khongjee, Dhanachandra Singh, Lalchhuanmawia, Narayan Das, Rino Anto, Pritam Kotal.
Midfielders: Eugenson Lyngdoh, Cavin Lobo, Sehnaj Singh, Jackichand Singh, Pronoy Halder, Francis Fernandes, Rowlin Borges, Bikash Jairu.
Forwards: Jeje Lalpekhlua, Robin Singh, Sunil Chhetri

The Kick-off of the match is on Thursday at 6:30 PM IST.
