Romeo Fernandes created history when he made his senior debut for Clube Atletico Paranaense against Nacional. On loan from Indian Super League(ISL) side FC Goa, Romeo became the first Indian to play for a professional Brazilian club when he was introduced in the 69th minute of the last round of Campeonato Paranaense, against Nacional which Atletico Paranaense won 5-0. Romeo Fernandes featuring for Atletico Paranaense comes shortly after Gurpreet Singh's debut appearance for Stabaek FC.
Gurpreet Singh Sandhu congratulated Romeo Fernandes on becoming the first Indian to play for professional Brazilian club as he tweeted:
