FIFA World Cup 2018 Qualifiers Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 1
Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati
India 2-0 Nepal
India: Sunil Chhetri(53rd, 69th)
Star striker Sunil Chhetri scored both the goals for Blue Tigers. Sunil gave India the lead in the 53rd minute when his sweet left-footer from outside the box found the back of the net. Chhetri scored the second goal in the 69th minute with a right footed effort, with debutant Jackichand Singh providing the assist. Sunil Chhetri could have had a hat-trick to his name had he not missed a penalty in the second half which was earned by Cavin Lobo.
Though the scoreline could have been much more had India taken their chances but at the end of the day, Stephen Constantine must be a happy man watching his the re-built Indian Team play with so much heart. India play Nepal in the away leg on 17th March 2015.
