The win meant that the Flaming Orange brushed aside East Bengal to finish second in the group behind Dempo SC. Victorino Fernandes' first minute goal was neutralized by Ranti Martins in the 6th minute when he converted from the spot. Dudu and Malsawmtulunga made the scoreline read 3-1 in favour of the Red and Golds. Anthony Wolfe however restored one goal back for Sporting in the injury time of first half.
