Cornell Glen again showed his class with a
hat-trick against Mumbai FC

In today's action, Shillong Lajong FC started the day on a bright note with their in-form Trinidad and Tobago forward Cornell Glenn again proving to be deadly upfront with a hat-trick. The quality of finishing was a treat to watch from the veteran as he had already shown his attacking forte in the Airtel i-League. A curling freekick from the man-in-form was a joy to watch as he netted the first hat-trick of the tournament. Boithang Haokip scored a stunning goal from a long range effort leaving Mumbai FC custodian Kunal Sawant with absolutely no chance.

SC Goa make their own destiny to book semi final berth

Oscar Bruzon's side were determined to make their own share of luck as they faced Rangdajied United FC, who were yet to taste defeat in the tournament. It took 54 minutes for the first goal as Boima Karpeh cleverly chipped the ball past Rangdajied United FC goalkeeper Surjoy Pariyar. Victorino Fernandes scored the second and final goal of the game as he made a good run down the middle, before finishing off the move after being left unchallenged by Rangdajied United FC defenders.

Salgaocar FC and Mohun Bagan play a stalemate

Salgaocar FC and Mohun Bagan locked horns in the Group C encounter of Federation Cup 2014. After Shillong Lajong FC defeated Mumbai FC, Mohun Bagan were almost certain to reach the semis. Both teams were keen to attack from the front. The dangerous Chizoba, who had already scored 3 goals to his name and Odafa Okolie, with 2 goals were almost certain to be an acid test for Salgaocar FC's leaky defence. In a game where neither of the two sides were able to break the deadlock in the first half, Odafa Okolie managed to get his side the lead in the 58th minute after he converted from the spot, Augustin Fernandes was guilty of tripping Chizoba inside the penalty box. Bikash Jairu made sure that Mohun Bagan did not walk out with full points as he scored from a superb 30 yards strike. The game thus ended 1-1.

East Bengal playing for pride after SC Goa dashed their hopes of qualifying for the semis earlier in the day, were up against Bengaluru FC in the Group B encounter which was a do or die match for Bengaluru FC. Bengaluru FC had no other choice but go for the kill as anything less than a victory would mean their exit from the tournament. Unfortunately for them, their frontline could not capitalize on the chances that came their way in the form of penalties - not one but two. Sunil Chhetri was first guilty of not converting his penalty in the early minutes of the second half while Sean Rooney also could not find the back of the net after Bengaluru FC were awarded their second penalty. East Bengal, on the other hand had Chidi Edeh in their kitty, with the Nigerian scoring two goals to help East Bengal end the campaign on a high, while also booking early return tickets for Ashley Westwood's side.
