The importance of sports medicine in modern day football has increased by leaps and bounds. Keeping in mind the rigours of a full season, it is virtually impossible for a footballer to retain their peak without sports medicine’s help.
Keeping pace with that, All India Football Federation is organising a first of its kind FIFA-AFC Football Medicine Regional Course - Central and South Region, starting January 14, 2013.
The four-day seminar will have participants from over 12 countries taking part in it. Doctors from Japan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and India will be attending the course.
FIFA Chief Medical Officer Professor Jiri Frantisek Dvorak will be one of the five lecturers to grace the occasion will his presence. Dvorak will be speaking on a range of topics starting from Football for Health to Head Injuries – Concussion, On Field Management, etc.
The other lecturers are Dato Gurcharan Singh of Malaysia (Chairman, Medical Department, AFC), Prof. Brun Shane Perry of Australia (associated with AFC), Dr. Patrick Yung of Hong Kong (associated with AFC) and Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu of India (associated with AFC) amongst others.
