Footballer dies after colliding with goalkeeper in Jalpaiguri

In another incident of poor medical facilities, it is reported that, Mahesh Thapa, 24, a footballer past away today while he was playing for his club in Jalpaiguri,West Bengal.Mahesh collided with the opponent goalkeeper during the match and by the time he was taken to the doctors he was announced dead. The shocking news does not come after a long time, as Venkatesh, a footballer from Bangalore died on the field

We have to make sure that proper medical facilities should be in the top most checklists before any football match is played. It is the role of the authority conducting the match to look after proper medical facilities available in the ground. If they fail to do so, then they should be ready to face criminal charges. We cannot afford to loose young players like Mahesh and Venkatesh, when we are thinking of taking football to the next level in our country. Indian Football Blog hopes his family can recover from the huge loss.
