Mahesh Gawli retires from International Football


Indian International Mahesh Gawli has retired from International Football after providing his valuable services to Indian football for such a long time. He represented the country 82 times.

Gawli was quoted saying,“It is delightful and so appropriate to have a perfect farewell to my International career on winning the SAFF Championship 2012 which is more heartening.”

Mahesh Gawli however added that he will continue to play club football for some more years to come. He told that he is looking forward to few new names in the Indian team who could become the backbone for Indian defence with the likes of Raju Gaikwad(East Bengal), Arnab Mondal(Prayag United), Crescent Antao(Dempo), Ravanan (Churchill Brothers), Anas Edathodika (Pune FC) and Gurwinder Singh (Kingfisher East Bengal).

Mahesh Gawli has been a wall in Indian defence and had never lacked commitment on the football pitch. Indian football - The Blog salutes Mahesh Gawli for the services he has provided to our nation and wishes that him verya fruitful life ahead.
