Bengal walk out on top of a thriller

Bengal made it to the Finals of the Santosh trophy yet again after defeating Goa in a thriller in the Yuva Bharati Kridrangan (YBK).
Bengal enjoyed most of the possesion between the two sides and were the one who dominated most of the match despite conceeding the lead to Goa from Godwin Franco's corner which was headed home by Milagres Goncalves in the 20th min.. Substitute Robin Singh looked likely throughout the match, and he seemed to be the target for all passes. Both the teams got few half chances but none of them were converted due to some pure finishing. Especially Bengal striker Tarif Ahmed missed a one on one with th Goan golie on 33rd min. Bengal were looking lively with some beautiful runs down the flanks and some inch perfect crosses, but the finishing was poor. Bengal were attacking in all cylinders with good number of players upfront and constantly pressurising the Goan defense. And finally it paid off, when a good left footer by East Bengal lad Robin Singh equalized in the 83rd min. The scoreline remained 1-1 after full time. The game went on the helm of penalties after extra time couldn't produce a result.

In the penalties, Rajib Ghosh missed the first penalty of Bengal which gave the home side a scare but thanks to some acrobatics saves from Abhra Mondal and some good penalties led Bengal to yet another Santosh Trophy finals.

Bengal will face Punjab in the finals who comfortably defeated Tamil Nadu by 3-1 thanks to a brace from JCT lad Balwant Singh.
